Dear Heather (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Leonard Cohen's voice is now nothing more than a smoky whisper; even his irresistible timbre that his last two albums "The Future" (1992) and "Ten New Songs" (2001) nor distinguished, almost complete Melodielosigkeit has departed. This does not mean that the new album would be bad, you should just avoid false expectations (more) have: from "There For You" apart barely sings Cohen, he murmurs, speaks, and are recited for the best song of the collection, "The Undertow", the lead vocals equal to his latest "Angel", Anjani Thomas, from. Something similar happens "Nightingale" (with mouth harp!), Even though his background murmur is still something prononzierter.
The indifferent rattle Cohens suits "On That Day," a piano ballad about 9/11 still quite good, at least the title track "Dear Heather", the listener will but put to a severe test when Cohen the last two of the 5 short lines of text finally endless repeatedly and ultimately spells.
Lyrically Cohen can be a master of poetic understatement anyway almost no one hold a candle, but this time will flash and the like forgotten humorous side of the dark bard by. At the default settings and synthesizer muzak saxophone has meanwhile also already accustomed. And it is only the genius Leonard Cohen attributed that is nevertheless become a work of art from all this.
One of the greats has again (and we hope for him and us that it is not the last time) reported.
