I read this novel with real pleasure even if the end I found it a little less good! Amelia is the daughter of a colonel in the British army who died a few me before. Shortly before his death he had wanted to see her marry Richard Bennet another officer. We make knowledge shortly before her marriage when she comes face to face with an angry highlander decided to behead Bennet. But instead of finding his target in Duncan room, the butcher of the Highlands, is a lovely English girl who, despite his initial fear, demonstrated a sacred courage. Finally he decided to take her with him as bait. Amelia is quite naive at first, for her everything is black or white, the English are "nice" and Scottish "wild" bloodthirsty. but to rub Duncan during this journey to the wild caeur Scotland she will may just qualify his opinion by meeting with Scottish ready to help without question, the English unsavory and especially getting to know Duncan is much more than the bloodthirsty warrior who appeared to him in the beginning. This change is gradual, charming, we meet really endearing characters and it lends itself to dream to travel the landscapes at their side. But from the moment when Amelia discovers "the other" Duncan identity (I admit not having seen this one coming) I began to be less interested, maybe because the story fell into the "classic "Highlander novels and was less interested in the emotions of his characters? I found this a little boat end and that's a shame because the first part is great.
