Disarm the Descent (CD)

Customer Review

From the time that the fans of the first hour regretted the good old "Alive or Just Breathing", which is true admirably laid the foundations of metalcore sauce Killswicth Engage, there should reconcile and comfort with this "The Disarm Descent ", surely a small bomb to listen.

Because yes, this last album is a worthy heir of the flagship album (artistically but not commercially ^^) group, with this mix Trash Metal tinged with a touch of Pop-Rock, which had not Killswitch Engage inevitably lurch so far, but still lacked a bit of freshness and old bestiality on the 3 previous games.

This comeback is marked by the singer Jesse Leach, then coincidence or real impact? Hard to say really because Killswitch Engage was going away with his self-titled album that, while not inherently evil, clearly remain the poorer and less inspired by the group so far. So I would be tempted to say that they could do better, and that's what they did, even beyond my expectations. This is all they have achieved to date that allows them to achieve this and to transcend their past style.

This is necessarily bad for Howard Jones, that I appreciated too, and whatever happens will the artisan of excellent albums "The End of Heartache" and "As Daylight Dies", so the reference to the public voice of the pieces the most emblematic of the group when their fame exploded. I think of titles like "My Curse", "Rose Of Sharyn", "Breathe Life" or "Eye of the Storm" (to name a few), on which Leach obviously does not bring the same vocal mastery Jones, what we also noticed on the Live excerpt from "My Curse" (bonus of this album).

I can not give you what songs I like on this "Disarm The Descent" because they are all excellent from my point of view. If this can be only slightly out of breath (and again) at the very end and 2 bonus tracks (preceding the 2 Live) perhaps less interesting than the rest, this album contains almost as bombs scotchent you your speakers. Everything you love about Killswicth Engage, you inevitably end up here, but without compromise, so even better. Jesse and Adam are pleased, you can hear it and it feels through this album, which has an energy and an incredible strength in his compositions and interpretations.

Those who know only the relatively recent Killswitch Engage will not appreciate much this album, probably finding it too gross and / or too loud at times, but it was a necessary and inevitable step for the group to restore its bases and avoids its slide that began earlier. In any case, I am thrilled with this CD and I heartily recommend waiting for the next ...
