I have this drive formatted with ext4 and played for hours. A hard drive test seemed first not make sense because the plate was new, and a test would take given the size safely several hours / days. But I would have had better on my feeling heard. I wanted to operate the unit in the satellite receiver, which worked right away. But when you play the recorded program playback kept breaking off.
Result: SMART reported read error and TestDisk.
Once I'll exchange the disk, if it was not still going, let first for a while away from it.
Asides: If you look around the net for reviews, you realize that this is not a Monday device. Rather, the technology seems not yet ready for production.
