(R) Evolution (Audio CD)

Customer Review

With "Hector's Hymn" (5/5), the album starts really strong with Elan forward drifting with a shot speed and the crystal-clear anthemic singing of Joacim Cans - it reminds me of the good old Power Metal Glory / legacy time. In an extremely indulging in a little sense, I think to myself: Yes, that's it - so it may be happy to go. Is it but unfortunately not the somewhat disdainful title song "(R) evolution" (3/5) then closes again and clearly states in the midtempo harmless rather attributable to the melodic metal albums Chapter V, Threshold, No Victory - and thus to then continue on the rest of her album. "Bushido" (4/5) is the extremely catchy midtempo single with nice singalong chorus, "Live Life Loud" (4/5) a Hard Rock-masher with stadium singalong chorus, the sluggish "Ex Infernis" (3/5 ) is quite stuffy therefore with these annoying monk operatic chorus-choirs, the more upbeat "We wont back down" (3/5) is quite banal and insignificant, the melancholy boring ballad "Winter is Coming" (2/5) can me not captivate you, "Origins" (5/5) can then show off with a brisk pace and a great chorus again and land a direct hit (the song reminds me of Freedom Call), "Tainted Metal" (3/5) is nice Midtempo in which many Oh-oh-oh-choirs at the end nerves something tough darker "Evil Incarnate" (3/5) would fit well on Infected, but also re-equipped in the chorus with these annoying monk choirs. The rapid viable heavy metal end cap "Wildfire" (3/5) can musically convincing, which annoy me these high siren-like symphonic Wildfire shouts something, but the song has a very pleasant quiet interlude.

(R) evolution looks quite endeavors - trying partially slightly faster, more concise, to approach with more corners and edges on the matter - will succeed in this only partially. An album that reminds me most Chapter V - not a real hammer, but after dark, not to Hammerfall match ending predecessor Infected, an upward trend is quite again make out - after all, something worth 3-4 stars, depending on how hard you the band likes and takes seriously what it does. Lyrically it is of course again afflicted the cliché-ridden True Metal - as an outsider might say: "They do the same as always," because the songs listen to mostly as pieced together from old song parts of previous albums, but the songs lack in most cases the train forward want to machine. Positive that initially everything sounds totally familiar, negative that I think him with every song to have heard on a former Hammerfall album, which can quickly become boring things. Technically and from the production, everything is in the album in the green zone. It is but just nothing special, and certainly not become the hoped-killer album. The great early days remembers only the opener "Hector's Hymn", the rest is rather banal average Melodic / True Metal, mostly settled in the mid-tempo, which nobody vorlockt in this form behind the stove. I would have really after the self-imposed break in recent years hoping over this tepid rehash of old times, but the return to old virtues of course, was foreseeable by the Infected-failure. However, I would have again requested a speedlastigeres faster work that kompromissloss adjoins the great early days of the band.

Update: 07.September 2014
Did the album now become part of the whole week in heavy rotation and come to the conclusion that it is very insignificant and will be disappearing in the closet for a long time. The air at Hammerfall appears to be compositionally out what probably could have something to do with the line-up changes in recent years. Only "Hector's Hymn" is a really good song, the rest does not need a man - if it was not too bad really. But if you want to hear Hammerfall, then you better albums to choose from, by which I mean the first 5 studio albums. No offense - but something the band should change, though I do not know exactly what! - Maybe, but again hired the fellow composer of the first albums Jesper Strömblad. If it so bland and boring going on album after album of all time, then good night. On Wikipedia is in the band as a genre "Power Metal" with this, it would be nice if that were also still up to date with reality!
