Best Album 2012

18 Months (Audio CD)

Customer Review

I think this album is really the best of 2012. Good beats and good vocalists make this a first-class dance album that I find much better than David Guetta's Nothing But The Beat. Among the 15 titles, there is no failure.

The variety is quite large. It found, inter alia guest contributions from Rihanna, Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding and Dizzee Rascal. This album contains influences from Electro, Dance, House, Dubstep, R & B, Pop, Electro-Pop, Soul, Disco, Funk, Hip Hop, Grime, Rap etc.

It starts with the rather still rippling Intro Green Valley, while Bounce comes marching with NES-beats. While listening to the first time I was amazed, after repeated Listen it tells me to, however, even though I initially not liked Kelis' song. Unusual, but good. Also Feel So Close to convince. In this song Calvin Harris sings himself, although he said the middle of 2011, he would stop singing. However, his voice is not bad. I also found this song strange the first time, because the 16-bit-tech house beats. But here can convince both beat and vocals. We Found Love Rihanna was probably the most successful song, but not the best in wide. I had the song no longer draufgetan, was played by the radio too often. But it's still okay. We'll Be Coming Back with Example is towards Grime, also good. Mansion is more of a two-minute instrumental track, but no worse. Though not a real song. Nevertheless, suitable for a party. Sounds a bit like Drum & Bass. Iron with Nicky Romero is almost a bit towards Dubstep, also good. I Need Your Love belongs thanks to the song by Ellie Goulding and the 8-bit beats from Calvin Harris to the best songs of 2013. Even Drinking From The Bottle can convince Tempah thanks a hard electro beat and fast rap of Tinie. This is party music! OK, the lyrics could have been designed a bit smarter (excerpt: "Tell the bar we need no glasses, just bottles"), but no matter. Sweet Nothing with Florence Welch is pretty poppy (sounds more like Soul), but just as convinced. School is rather a bit boring for me, sounds pretty after acid house, but it is too short (1:47) and some vocals would have. Nevertheless, in order. Here 2 China with Dillon Francis and Dizzee Rascal haut rein already much more. Since you can not complain, this song is rather Dizzee's style. With Let's Go could have raushauen from the beat more, however, Ne-Yo's vocals convince. Awooga however, is a Intrumentaltrack, and actually rather an instrumental of LMFAO's Reminds Me Of You. I find it not bad, because I am of the opinion, the original of the song has ruined the song. Now one hears again typical retro beats made by Calvin Harris. At the end of Thinking About You comes with Ayah Marar back into the disco / funk / progressive house scene, like Calvin's first two albums. This song is not bad.

The only songs that might have weaknesses, are Green Valley, School and Let's Go, otherwise everything is great! So there is something not often on an album, perhaps even more than in the Swedish House Mafia Until One albums and Until Now.

So if you looking for a good dance album, which I can only recommend Calvin Harris' 18 Months.
