Had he exposed with "Live and Let Die" for the first time, John Barry returned with this score back to Bond series is back, and the break seemed to have done him good, the score for Bond No. 9 acts but again innovative, as Barry's work "Diamonds Are Forever". Calm, balanced music with Asian sounds, in which repeatedly the Bond theme and a shot power were interwoven. But the theme song can be heard in the 30s to jazz style (Track 4), as well as in a romantic instrumental version in the play "Goodnight Goodnight". In general, it is amazing what Barry (in my opinion the wrong interpreter) instrumental fetches from the not so successful theme song out because this piece is omnipresent throughout the soundtrack. But also tracks where the theme music does not flow, but they are tense, as "In search for Scaramangas Iceland", rounded again by Asian sounds, are first class. Ultimately Barry has to my opinion the weakest of all the Bond movies (it just lacks many typical Bond elements) one of its most diverse soundtracks.
