I hear the album for months now regularly and am always thrilled by the pull exerted by the songs to me. This mix of folkloric elements and improvisation on the guitar (with a wide range of guitar sounds) is just great. I must confess that I did not particularly like Pat Metheny's last albums. I found them uninspired, partly to smooth and complacent - just boring. From John Zorn can certainly not say. His music often bulky urges the listener usually out, which is worth the challenge to accept and embrace it. On this album arises for me the perfect blend of songs like "Sariel" that go along a through rhythm and Folklore and beguile quiet songs like "Phanuel," which come along very quietly, but coupled by Metheny's guitar with spherical, modest use electrosounds , An album for back and listen again. Big compliment to the brilliant composer and the congenial interpreter.
