Compact all-rounder

The Epson Expression Premium XP 520 makes a very compact impression. As usual, is missing a USB cable.
The power supply is integrated, which saves natural space and therefore dust.
I have (what I actually rarely do) adhered strictly to the instructions. Thanks to the recessions of other Epson printer!
The attached Fact Sheet writes in principle only two things: Do not connect anything to and set only once the CD.
From then accepts a setup. So easy installation I've never experienced. All steps are described in detail on the PC including illustration.
The installation of the cartridges is relatively simple. The hardware initialization of the printer takes 7 minutes. Now the driver to install on your PC.
You will be asked next whether the printer is connected via WiFi or USB.
My USB cable did not want to anyway. So let's try with WLAN. My SSID is immediately displayed and the password must be entered using the arrow keys.
Took about 2 minutes. It still follows a compulsory test page and it will search for new firmware and drivers.
Both are also installed correctly.

My Impression:

+ Print quality text in laser level
+ Print quality graphics, I find very good, but have no reference
+ No ext. Power Supply

+ WLAN device is in two minutes
+ Compact design, ideal for shelves or desks
+ Cartridges buying extremely simple because a polar bear must be displayed on the packaging
+ Front display can be tilted by 90 degrees
+ Tray integrated, can not collect dust
+ 3x color, 1x Black (Text) and 1x Black (Photo) cartridges

+/- No USB cable
+/- Epson software acts partially frumpy
+/- To print the display cover must always be open and the paper support is extended manually, in advance clear waraber then but keep forgetting.

- Scan a bit noisy
- Only setup cartridges, range 40-50 pages depending Print
- Tray and lid slightly rickety
- Display very small

A cartridge in XL black (photo or text) costs about 14 euros. At 500 pages, this would be indicated
a price of 2.8 cents page. In reality, however, certainly more expensive.
About 9 euros are due for each color, Xl again around the 14 euros.
But if you have to replace even all, it is expensive at just under 60 euros. But should be rare.
Printhead is installed in the printer, ie. always make sure that the printer is disabled on the switch.
Online services or the SD slot for direct printing I've never used.
The menu I find intuitive, though the display is small and confused is that there is no turning back button.
However, I wonder how often the display lid on and can make. One has the feeling that the plastic is not too often join.
But this is pure speculation.
Overall, I find the printer highly recommended, especially considering the low price!
For me as an ideal opportunity printer.

Update after 6 months:
The quality is still very good. From time to time the printer waits for itself without any indication of what sounds like a malfunction. I've also used it with 160gr and 200gr paper. Ua for menu cards at weddings. The quality (if you configured on the print settings) really good. Would continue to be awarded 5 stars.
