Okay, I had the SmartWare Pro then so tried and the current backup of my system even seemed to be working. Wow, how great ...
What short haunted me on this successful experience, was the question of what actually happens, if my source disk (the disk is backed up from where) breaks down? After the backup is stored in a special file, which is WD-specific and corresponds to the software SmartWare. So I was looking for answers, because of course as "special issues" from real life, no one answered, and certainly not the provider. I tried it first via support for WD - I had to - yes, again - login. That was already the second logon procedure.
After successful login, which was extremely complicated because the 20 captchas were almost unreadable for people each, I was finally there. Meanwhile, plenty of time was also passed. Now I was looking in the "knowledge database", after I had finally figured out where to get information. Since the so-called knowledge base but nothing blazes, I tried to write a time. And now it was really funny: Whenever I clicked "Ask a question" on, I was logged out and should announce myself again on a similar looking site - by the way: the site this time was somewhat defective. Funny, is not it?
After login madcap I was at the same place as before. Again I tried to "ask a question" and ended up where? Of course - the off, so as the cat biting its own tail.
After this Kafkaesque experience and about 2 hours occupational therapy with My Book SmartWare and other S *** about that,
and a login (Attention, the third registration procedure!) in the "Forum" from WD, I had the snout full to the brim.
Why only I had not done this time, what I always did after buying a WD external drive? I do not know it well, but now the time had come: I deleted the WD software grime from My Book and invited meanwhile Acronis True Image Premium down.
I now work with Acronis and use the first time the ability to back up data live, because the very contrary is my current work style. By the way I have with A. an added value, because of course I can thus make a lot of other things.
While Acronis also has its own file extension for backup, but not just that I know here, what I'm doing and also have a lot of choices when it comes BCKUP strategies that things are documented also excellent. Because you really bekomt class information and assistance, if you can not decide between the backup strategies. That's awesome! As you know voher what one has to endure in an emergency for a risk. That's the way it has to be!
Yet a little note in the margin: The long narrow button on the back of the housing (off the board) at the "old" My Books is omitted the current "Book".
What also amazed: The housing of the new MyBook is even greater than the "old" - at 3 TB.
CONCLUSION:
SmartWare with the WD drive is complete garbage.
Who needs his data secure and also want to know exactly whether the data are then also retrievable - and especially how that should take care with which he treats and where to find the necessary information.
WD SmartWare in the plate was worst occupational therapy, which brought nothing but trouble, no information and pointless logins to various servers, which devoured insane amount of time at the end for me.
Who wants to be sure what his data for a backup, should deal with serious solutions and already thinking about back Holst rate Gien before the meltdown occurred and you will be crushed in insanity automatic Informationsbereitstellungstools- and server vorgaukeln the support, but nothing more are as mills in order to stall the user.
The housing has increased (compared to the old version).
The Abschalttaste (compared to the old version) is missing.
