As previous users of Eee PC with 9-inch monitor and a total of 12 GB SSD memory everything should be slightly larger this time: keyboard, monitor, disk space. After I had initially ordered the previous model, which for> 1 month was not available but I've slammed with availability of this model and the purchase has not regretted. Following the reviews, I first installed 2 GB RAM expansion to install Win 7 64 bit can what all went without problems. (With the strange "Express Gate" "operating system" I would not want to make friends only!) I hate to surf on the go with Windows in the wild wide wifi world (even if Win 7 Professional at least graded user rights offering), yet came Linux Mint 11 as a "dual-boot" with a modest 40 GB partition on device - hence can be accessed data on the Windows partition so if necessary, just vice versa it is not). Everything works perfectly, in detail here: Plus points: + Price / performance ratio (especially if you already have one / multiple OS licenses) + Monitor resolution is very fine, almost too fine, if you have problems with the near-seeing ... + USB 3.0 (one of 3 ports, the way to identify clearly with blue socket!) + Lush hard drive (500 GB) + Light weight !! Can not be overestimated, if you about wearing the device really a lot. Not as easily as the old EEE PC with 1 kg, but yes also 2 sizes larger + Battery life: I do not know if the advertised time is really achieved, but the stamina is in the "green zone". + HDMI output, if you wanted to connect an external monitor
Neutral: - / + The computer is pretty fast (considering netbook standards such as the single-core Atom processors), of course, not with i3 - compare i7 processors (but well priced play in another league) - / + The touchpad is quite "slippery", but quite good to use, works well, scrolling on the edge. - / + The glare display is basically easy to read, but naturally against specular light sources (eg ceiling lamps behind a) sensitive
Bad points: - Not have been found - perhaps that the fan until he decides to continuously cool, somewhat fluctuating (but reasonably quiet) makes noise. It sounds as if he gives up the same, but he has not yet.
Conclusion: For use with office software to all Internet-based anyway, and (limited) for compute-intensive applications such as statistics (R is installed) very suitable if mobility is the decisive criterion, as in my case.
