Take a charismatic young singer with a unique voice, a guitarist who was very experienced through his participation in the Yardbirds and his work as a session musician, then a sovereign bass player who also also mastered the keyboard and a drummer who technically true of another was exceeded or is nowadays, but were beating with energy on his kit, which can probably be found in almost any other drummer - and out comes the rock band par excellence, which today is fascinated and standards. The band had a huge success off the stand and why, is already showing the first album: the way Blues and Hard Rock were mixed, was something entirely new. The dynamics of such an ingenious arrangement as "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" fascinates me even after the hundredth hearing yet; the alternating passages with aggressive hardness on basin, powerful guitar riffs and Robert Plant's screaming on the one hand, while quiet acoustic guitars and a gently singing Robert Plant can be heard with thrashing on the other side. Then there are, of course, unforgettable songs like "Dazed and Confused" and "How Many More Times", which went on to become live standards of Zep and everyone should know; In addition, the cover versions of "You Shook Me" and "I Can not Quit You Baby", which still can be seen though as blues songs, but concerning the sound much more aggressive and more rock - so what was in this form so far been there. Be sure to mention you have to, of course, the 2 1/2 minute song "Communication Breakdown", which simply asks only for headbanging, the equally well reinbratenden opener "Good Times, Bad Times", in which you as a rock fan actually already equal should know that this is the place, or the nice "Your Time Is Gonna Come" with the pompous organ intro of John Paul Jones.
