Live in Berlin (Audio CD)

Customer Review

I saw Sting with the Symphonicity tour this year in Cologne and it was a concert I'll long remember. Deeply moved, impressed and euphoric I went home that day and could now bring back with this CD / DVD is a good reminder to me. Of course, on a DVD never arise the same concert experience as the Kölnarena or here at the O2 Arena. But the sound and picture quality of the two media is very appealing. You get a good impression of the concert and those who were able to see him live, the concert can relive (if only in your own living room).
A perfect bond that wonderful orchestra, great soloists, a very good singer, new and varied arranged pieces and his fantastic voice make this concert an unforgettable experience.
His songs have for the most part on a great harmonic depth and varied rhythms that allow the band and the orchestra in particular, to give them more or garment size. It is a different and new interpretation and one must want to engage in it. I can understand that some want to stay with the familiar and this way do not want to go with Sting. For me, however, this approach is no standstill or boredom. It is another and deeper interpretation of his works. The lyrics meld with the music and win me expressiveness or show other aspects.
Is especially noteworthy, for example, "The End Of The Game". The play about a fox hunt appeared Sting then in the studio version is not suitable enough to the rest of the album and was not published. Even though I was of the piece by the unusual clock and the original musical interpretation of the theme always fascinated, this is now by the orchestral arrangement nor a skilful stage implemented. "Whenever I Say Your Name" which was inspired by a Bach composition, shines with a violin introduction and dramatic works perfectly. "Russians" is very emotional and moody, intense than the original and also threatening. The play had a long time outdated, to the present time, it fits right now again.
"Moon Over Bourbon Street" is reminiscent of a Brecht production in the old Berlin and the emotions of "Desert Rose" and the incredible power of percussion Rhani Krija be on DVD guess how this has worked live.
Stings clear voice (without musical accompaniment) when last piece "I Was Brought To My Senses" create in me still goosebumps. After almost 3 hours concert so clear to be able to bring a long and emotional tones, is more than amazing.
