Short for the game itself: Space Alert is a cooperative board game in which you protect a spaceship of approaching danger through coordinated action. The game is divided into a planning and an execution phase. The planning phase in which all actions are already defined, is accompanied by the CD soundtrack and takes 10 minutes. One learns during planning that for example in round three a threat (eg Space Pirate) emerges from the left. Then all players must deny to (coordinated as possible) to avert this threat. So often, a player must only charge the generator, so that the other fires can. If the CD soundtrack is over, just the actions planned are carried out and it is hoped that you have messed up nothing.
First: This game is challenging and you have a few games (learned the hard way!) Playing to get in properly. The game is often hectic as you have to arrange for time. This is by far the communication-heavy game that I know (well, maybe except taboo;)). Nevertheless, you also have only the nature of the right communication to learn. Just tell the other players what to do in detail is simply an information overkill. Better is easy when you say that you with other players A cares about xy and then with this denies the details.
Due to the high demand and the possibility of Verdaddelns of one or another action while there are high frustration potential, but it is also quite proud when you've made the ship has brought in a piece of back home. One more thing: Even if there are only 8 different soundtracks, but then every game is different from each other, as more and other threats are drawn.
This game really do extremely fun, yet one can not fully recommend. It has quite a high entrance barriers, so you quickly can not even gamble a round with Neuspielern. Also the game for some players will be too tiring, because you already have to plan several moves ahead.
Nevertheless, the game also deserves in my eyes won the special prize "new worlds".
