The MOJO Makers, a quintet from Denmark (!!), reflect on exciting way the feeling of amerkanischen South in their music. They have recorded with her second album "Devils Hands" from 2014, a great album for me. As with the debut the band Blues linked to all kinds of influences, such as Americana, soul, but also a little Latin, gospel, reggae and jazz.
The songs are all natural compost ion, and vocally performed by Kaspar Osman. Mr. Osman knows how splendid to give the songs with his voice its own flair. Since times bluesy black "geknödelt" to himself, other times carelessly sung with uncommon Soul.
What makes this album so well ungewönlich, is to understand the band to use all instruments at the right temperature and well dosed. With so many Song part is only very gently in the background Hammond organ / Wurlitzer heard, and it there is almost a cappella singing-like, only slightly supported by the percussion guitars can mild "Sliden" or drifting rock-bass Song is always useful, sometimes only slightly noticeable, other times the cohesive, audible link. Amazing and remarkable musicianship of this is even so young band ... Great.
Even if all the ingredients of this musical mixture of the Mojo Makers are no musical territory, but how skillfully created the band here their own sound / style deserves respect ...
Therefore, clearly the highest score for this great CD of the MOJO MAKERS.
