I had the opportunity to test all three compared. The focus here is on the use of the Crop.
Sharpness:
++ For all. All Macros provide a fantastic image sharpness. None can settle clear.
Autofocus:
All three lenses focus accurately and precisely. Yet
++ For EF 100 / 2.8L. It provides the ability to limit the area that is traversed by the autofocus with three stages. 0,3-0,5m; 0.5m - infinity; FULL. The containment enables faster focusing. Who does not want to deal with it, can choose the complete range.
+ For EF 100 / 2.8. Here are two ranges selectable. 0.3m - infinity; 0,48m - infinity. A limitation on the short field does not exist. But here comes mostly manual focus anyway used.
o 60mm for 2.8. A narrowing of the autofocus is not possible.
Bokeh:
- 60: The blurred area is a bit more restless than the 100mm versions. By 7 diaphragm blades the lights are somewhat angular.
+ For EF 100 / 2.8L. 9 diaphragm blades to create a soft, quiet bokeh with circular lights.
Features:
++ For EF 100 / 2.8L: sunshade and quivers are befitting included with the "L" system lenses. But What is more, that at this lens, an image stabilizer (hybrid IS) is installed. So who from time to time a freehand Snapshot - even under somewhat poorer lighting conditions - want to do, will appreciate this very much. Of course, the dust and splash protection must not be forgotten ...
Other:
+ For EF 100 / 2.8 u. EF 100 / 2.8L at the Crop. Due to the larger focal length you can stay farther away from the subject. That may not be too relevant (which run not so fast) with flowers. In insects o. Ä. It helps but quite.
+ EF-S 60 on Crop. By 60 mm focal length lens on crop is also very well suited as a portrait lens. There is even at f2.8 almost too spicy for portraits, but because the image processing can so emulate their share. Would be a perfect 2 in 1 lens (Macro / Portrait)
Conclusion:
Well, I can recommend all three lenses safely. Who wants to have many uses for moderate money, is well served with the EF-S 60 for Portrait and Macro on Crop. The 100 mm variants increase the distance from the subject and are therefore better suited for macro and small animals in terms of flight distance. Due to the higher number of diaphragm blades, they ensure a smoother bokeh. Who wants to have the all-inclusive package and the corresponding change has, is perfectly served with the EF 100 / 2.8L. Otherwise, the EF 100 / 2.8 is a good choice and value for money is quite recommendable.
