I have this album of Omnia brought directly to the publication date and also have (almost) all the albums of the group brought out already are at home. So you could say I'm a big fan of Omnia. And as that's just so, if you like a band, and for a long time listening, one gets after some time as a kind of overall picture of the group. My overall image of Omnia is: Paganfolk! - Rapid, rhythmic music with ancient instruments from the neo-Celtic folklore.
Only the CD does not fit mostly into my picture and did not meet my expectations! Some will say: Do not be so narrow-minded, be open to new times! For this I say not in principle no, but if I buy a CD of a band makes Paganfolk, so to speak, with the group Faun together invented it and has marked, then I expect that on this same CD Paganfolk is it. The big problem: THIS IS NOT THE CASE !!
So let's take the CD bit more closely:
Track 1: Intro. Good solid intro.
Track 2: Sic trying to rap. In theory, even more questionable, but on closer listening not bad. One of the best songs of the plate.
Track 3: Quiet, nice song, but nothing Superior.
Track 4: Saltatio Vitae. Awesome, probably the Omnia fans but be known for some time. Just Sounds Omnia! (Really)
After this rather very good to good, you could say solid beginning the evil takes its course ...
Track 5: The first song with piano as a background instrument. Well I think to myself, can also sometimes be, but is not a folk instrument. The song is unusually slow for Omnia, there occur hardly the traditional instruments.
Track 6: No folk, but singer-songwriter music with not just Omnias classic text style, but oh well.
Track 7: Piano. Slowly. No traditional instruments.
Track 8: No music, special shamanic incantations or something. But good idea running in my rating out of competition.
Track 9: piano instrumental.
Track 10: Piano. Slowly. No traditional instruments. Jenny's wonderful voice. :-)
Track 11: Again, more singer-songwriter, very slowly, not really very entertaining.
Track 12: Despite Piano ehr back toward the old Omnias. Unfortunately not completely acoustic.
Track 13: Nice, slow, mostly instrumental song.
Track 14: Piano. Slowly. No traditional instruments. Much Hall.
Track 15: English, Irish-sounding song, very nice :-), I would like much not expected, but is a successful "surprise".
Track 16: Outro. Piano. It's perfectly alright.
Conclusion:
In at least 60% of the songs Piano occurs as main instrument. A big mistake in my opinion. Also, almost all of the songs in English, which I think is a shame.
All in all a mediocre to almost a bad album, on the of the Old Omnia Limited can be felt. Too Bad.
I hope the band learn from it, corrects its course and again makes such wonderful music they are on the albums "Alive!" can hear or "Paganfolk".
In this sense,
for paganism!
