This album has survived concerning the sound time. It sounds for the most part even after 16 years is still just as fresh as the release. So it is not surprising that such hits as The Next Episode, Still DRE etc. still up in the club and down to play. The beats are just great. All had come in use drums, samples and even rehearsed elements harmonize perfectly with each other and are very professional mixed for a total of a great soundscape results.
Where the album the sound is fantastic, but it lacks the lyrical content. Basically, it is here solely about sex, drugs, violence and parties. Quite clearly visible on the Pause 4 Porno Skit, with whom I am ashamed really strange even at the first hearing and since then always skip. Has bothered me at The Chronic and here it is not a bit different. My personal highlight, however, is the last track The Message whose beat was not the only one produced by Dre himself but by Lord Finesse. The song is dedicated to his late brother Tyree and God. This shows a lot of depth and Dre Beat with its gentle sound and a perfect end to the album.
Although the album is lyrically hardly convincing and I have honestly not expect otherwise, I give the album 4 out of 5 stars, for the simple reason because this album is fun and now sounds as good as 16 years ago. It lacks only the whole of the contents, substance.
