The unit was well received packed. At first I thought, however, the wrong device was delivered because of stainless steel was nothing to see. The unit was around light gray and looked like it was made of plastic. Then I thought the unit was ever used, because of the "gray plastic" light in some places "scarring" had. Only on closer sight it I realized that they were a protective film which fully clothed the unit and bubble-free matte (professional too) was applied. After stripping off the device then shone into the ordered steel. Relief and smile on my face (and my wife). Well - that was their own stupidity, but what wrong with having imprint "protective film before mounting remove"?
What was new in this device is that it in the back area no match for the cable management leaves, although it is regularly connect to the wall. The connecting cable is in fact brought out at the rear side of the device, thus preventing a direct attachment to the wall. While I could easily restore the power supply in a cavity of the hood in the old device, I now had a small slot in the wall brace to the junction box, to set the hood flush with the wall (and the cable buried in the pit). Although this has worked, but considerable additional work caused (mainly dirt). For this design flaw I subtract a star. It's all - see old device from the same manufacturer - quite different.
The unit looks classy from, is easy to clean thanks to stainless steel and has a very high suction power (level 3). What I do not like the sharp-edged corners. With regard to general safety standards that is no longer appropriate today. Who is greater than 1.60 meters and less than 1.80 meters, will make in light bending over the stove frequently painful acquaintance with the sharp edges. For this vulnerability, there is another star deduction.
What I do not like, is the position of the air outlet. It is located directly under the door of the wall unit, at which the hood is installed. Thus, the emerging air flows directly against the closet door, which quickly generates a film of grease on the door despite the activated carbon filter. That was much better resolved in the previous cap of Siemens; the distance was here about 3 to 4 centimeters from the door. In my view this is a serious design defect which could only be achieved in that the hood is mounted off to the lack of distance to the door of the wall (But what is the situation then?). Here the designers have slept. Also for this constructive deficiency I subtract a star.
Otherwise, I am satisfied with the device. The blower is powerful and gets the job done.
Conclusion: Visually very good, constructive and functional but in several points only satisfactory to adequate. The relatively high price and the origin of a well-known manufacturers for me quite a disappointment.
