Comments are many, I will only add important details. I'm on my second it's been 3 years since I use it. Very handy because the device serves both timer and thermometer, with alarm activated or not both parameters, but you must choose the alarm on either the temperature or the timer. The screen displays in real time the temperature at the end of the probe, it is quite reactive (in the order of the second). The programmed temperatures: for each type of meat and cooking. The manual temperature control or timer: Using both + and - buttons: with a beep each, incremented by one with each press: it is PAINFUL (beeps and the number of pressures ) is obsolete when compared to the phones interface ... The alarm: for the timer, it sounds twenty rounds. For the temperature, when the temperature is reached, it sounds twenty rounds, then resumes Wholesale every minute if the temperature is always above. It would be really useful to define a temperature zone in which the alarm or off would sound. Basically: I warned when the temperature is 140 degrees (I stuffs) and did not warn me that if I exceed 160 or I drop below 140 (cooking), and sounds after 35 minutes of cooking. The ringer volume can not be adjusted. Finally the probe is in metal and silicone, solid enough but watch the cable is not indestructible: the silicone is easily cut, which is why other manufacturers prefer a metal sheath. The case is plastic rather low quality, but it is light, the rounded edges are surrounded by rough and soft plastic so that it will resist all falls. Finally crucial detail: it works with two standard AAA batteries (so-rechargeable) and has a fantastic autonomy; I never turn off and the batteries last more than a year.
In short it is I think the best in this price range but not the Grail in terms of quality or features.
