I can think my Vorrezensenten not really connect, and find even that OM2 is one of the best discs of Queensryche. Of course, who expected a musical sequel to the first OM, may be inevitably disappointed ... but I think the new album musically far more mature than the first part. Now I must say that I am following Queensryche since the first OM and appreciate very much, but otherwise the music coming from the fore- and Gothic corner more. I find OM2 far more progressive than the first part, the Association, more or less 80s power metal with progressive elements. In addition, the darkly theatrical main thrust of the new album fits much better for pretty dark story, as the relatively typical metal tunes of the first part. Musically I find that OM2 even pretty much shows how Queensryche would have sounded if they had followed the musical path of Empire under consistent artistic viewpoints. The only thing I agree is that the production is used to - very eighties-heavy with a lot of effects and not too heavy guitars. However, in view of the compressed to death overbred salami slices of recent years is almost again refreshing. Sound bad she does anyway. So, as I said, I am thrilled by the disc. Even fans of bands like Saviour Machine, Pain of Salvation or even The Mission should quiet times lend her an ear.
