Oxymoron (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Ever since "good kid, Maad City" looks the entire hip hop world on Top Dawg Entertainment and Black Hippy Roster to Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and Schoolboy Q. The latter has already through the digital release of the LP's "Setbacks" and "Habits & Contradictions" made a name, but it was really interesting, as Kendrick Lamar brought out his seemingly surpassing debut album and now Q was his turn again. Countless times has been postponed by "Oxymoron" the release, published in the preliminary singles like "Yay Yay" and "Banger (moshpit)" is no longer managed on the regular version of the album.

But "oxymoron", representing Schoolboy's major-label debut is by no means the new flagship concept album of TDE and no artistic reinvention of the former Oxycontin-dealer and Crips member. Rather, it marks another station in Q's progress and introduces him to a wider audience.

Lyrically, has changed little. Thematically act most titles still of drugs, gangster stories and Parties with numerous women. Q It is understood, however, these issues interesting to package and absolutely confident in points Flow and vocal use. Some tracks are almost flooded his unmistakable ad Lips - "Yuck, yuck," "icky-icky-icky", etc. This not only ride in the songs, but also makes them unique and pushes them Schoolboy Q Trademark on. The only track that really fall out, is "Prescription". Unusually personally told Q of his drug addiction and the gesproche of his daughter Hook is really close.

As for its flow, Schoolboy now operates more consistently than on previous releases - songs like "Man of the Year", "Collard Greens" or "What They Want" are entertaining simply because of her presentation. The track itself remain varied and are never too long. The only exception in my eyes: "The Purge" with Tyler, The Creator and Kurupt. Produced by Tyler beat sounds absolutely after him and is neither other rappers really good to see. Here the impact of the guest is simply too strong. Otherwise, they know well but involve, of course, two Black Hippy colleagues are with Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar represented. Only a "Druggys wit Hoes" sequel with Ab-Soul is missing. Otherwise Raekwon provides a very good part onto one of the highlights of the album, 2 Chainz raps one of his best ever Parts and BJ The Chicago Kid croont beautifully on "Studio".

Just like the features, the beats are varied and usually absolute quality. The dominant sound is very grim and dirty, but interspersed with tracks like "collard greens", "Studio" and "Man of the Year". It is never too clichéd to happiness. Even the song for the ladies "Studio" device not corny - "I'mma put this dick up inside all of you" - not exactly poetic, but still consistent and not cheesy. Otherwise white Schoolboy make various beats to potential sellers. While "Los Awesome" on a former Clipse album would also be good to imagine, is "Break the Bank" strangely catchy and compels the listener to nod formally.

The whole album is thus thoroughly gangsta rap. If you like this, is fallen off, see who so something does not suit, nothing is on offer, which could change his mind.

As a conclusion it can be said that Schoolboy Q remains at its strengths and will establish his name through this album on. Also approaches for further development can be festellen - Intropektive on "Prescription" and songs with different beat changes and sides ("Hoover Street"). However, just the Deluxe Edition is not particularly recommended, as the quality of the songs clearly falls for "Man of the Year" that concludes the regular version, but. Here were songs like "Yay Yay" and "Banger (moshpit)" actually used better. Despite all, a very good album, which maintains first-class, whether in the car, at a house party or anywhere else.

My Favourites:

1. Man of the Year - Single Turn from start to finish. Everything fits here.
2. Break the Bank - particularly convinced the beat of Alchemist. Q delivers flawless parts and a very good hook.
3. What They Want - 2 Chainz surprised when Feature and the extremely gloomy atmosphere both know to use for themselves.
4. Blind Threats - Q is not adjacent to the legend Raekwon on a great beat by far.
5. Collard Greens - one of the most progressive beats of TDE - also the most partytauglichste song by Q previously.
