After a KH-break of many years, I have procured me the DT 880 Pro via the Internet, would have to read up on exactly what it is intended. For studio use
This KH is analytic. Compared to my 20-year-old DT 911 does so analytically that they think they are in acoustic hospital. Each instrument seems worked out with a scalpel. The interplay of the instruments, the construction of a stage, not a trace. But I stress once again: This is a studio headphones. And the now is to build once no stage, but represent the mixer the instruments. And this KH does exactly what it was built.
Compared to the wonderfully warm, detail-DT 911, which can build up a wide stage, so that one imagines the musicians beside him, this KH acts clearly dull and narrow-minded. I have just picked up the wrong headphones and would have to get me a device from the non-studio-line, which is better suited to my hearing.
So everyone choose his field of application well.
A word about the build quality: This is as always impeccable. No squeaks, groans, moans. Everything is processed highly precise fit and high quality. As has always been. The earcups are perfect and let a not synthetic leather sweat as with many other suppliers whose headphones for heat and perspiration you have to take from the head after a short time again. The contact pressure, however, is considerably higher - but it's also a studio headphones. Nice but that also "Großkopferte" of this headset are well served and the bracket does not have to end up on the back of the head (such as the DT 770). But what also no longer would be bad - because the Beyerdynamics who thank God circular earpads.
As a personal conclusion of this mishit I have therefore over beyerdynamic Replacement earpads for my DT 911 concerned (as for my DT 801, almost 30 years old), for which there are still spare parts. Show me a even a single other (Asian) manufacturers, and AKG belongs now to the still holds spare parts for its headphone models after 30 years. Also in this area is clearly beyerdynamic unbeaten.
To summarize: Who needs the broad stage, warmth, detail and orchestral interplay - which is in this studio headphones completely at the wrong address and a beyerdynamic elect from the music listening corner.
The question only: How many stars I forgive now? 3? 4? 5? Technically there's nothing at all to complain about. The build quality is also excellent. That I have chosen the wrong field of application is not attributable to the KH, so I choose the diplomatic center.
