I would imagine that this CD represents for many an ideal introduction to the "high-caliber-classical". Namely, they give a brief and concise title of the currently most-present classical artists together and is something like the annual review of the classical music scene. Yours truly, this CD has indeed bought for a very prosaic reason: the ECHO Klassik award, the grand prize of the German classical world is, indeed televised, not every artist must, however, also handy to show his skills. Since I find this unspeakably bad in some award winners, and I wanted to simultaneously hear compared the music of the winners, I bought my CD. So I can comfortably in the living room chairs play my own judges ;-) The tracklisting of the CD is certainly a who's who not only of German classical music: Sound Kopman, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Christian Gerhaher, of course Lá Netrebko, Anne Sophie Mutter, the Jerusalem Quartet, Fabio Luisi, Daniel Harding, and many others. A "Best of" So in the good sense, you could say the "Michelin Guide" by the Classical world!
