The action of this first volume of this trilogy is going on in the dAnderson Camp, Georgia, in August 1864. In this gigantic US prison in the open, while the Civil War raged in the country, the world is divided into two categories : jailers southerners and northerners captives. In between the deadline. The prisoner who crosses this line wins a one way ticket to hell. Among them, a black soldier insolent calm, proud look, intrigue young Confederate Paugham Louis, assigned to the camp surveillance. This comic is to be classified in style "western" but be careful, though quon encounter stereotypes like cowboys, violence, revenge and firing of firearms, "Deadline" off the beaten track for its history because we understand that the young Confederate soldier is in love with black soldier Unionist! The story is in the psychological with flashbacks to better understand the young Louis Paugham and better follow him in revenge that follows. The choice of Christian Rossi in the drawings is very wise as they are of great beauty, colorful and above all very realistic: one can find there the style of the famous designer Jean Giraud, which is surely a mark of quality. First volume Dune trilogy, "Deadline, Volume 1" is built on an unusual history before returning to the clichés of the genre "Western" but Frédéric Laurent-Bollee chose to thumb its nose to racism and make a call tolerance through this story of love not: it's a welcome performance because the western is not for angels!
