Surely a book to read as the subject remains current. Though sometimes a bit complex as the history of this family from Switzerland found itself nested in that of the Germanic and Central Europe, this book highlights all the issues of European integration. The Habsburgs have sunk with Germany of Kaiser Wilhelm through or because of the relentlessness of France, Italy, certain extremist circles or passivity if not duplicity of the British (as often unfortunately in history, think of Romanov). And result in all this: the advent of the Third Reich and a 2nd World War. Nice score! So read carefully. JPMessager77
