Maya Banks chose to tell her story in the third person singular. We spend Mia Gabe, allowing us to know the thoughts and feelings of the two characters. The author has not cut viewpoints according chapters, we are in the head of the two protagonists in turn according to the different moments of history. I liked this construction because unlike a lot of erotic romances, we discover deeper and the male hero.
The story is fairly standard and ubiquitous romance (although the characters refuse to admit to themselves what they feel). I was afraid that some of the scenes are too hards but it was not the case, though struggled with Gabe and practice a few times, the author has not fallen into the trash and managed to limits in the relationship of dominant / dominated.
Mia I immediately liked it. This young twenty-four girl is Jace's sister, best friend and partner of Gabe. When the latter asked him to become his assistant and his "thing", she agrees and signs a contract. We learn quickly that she fantasizes about him since his teens and is desperate to please him by agreeing to fulfill all his desires. Mia has character while keeping a naive side touching. Even if the contract offered Gabe intimidates him, she sign because it makes him full confidence, confidence that he does not deserve the beginning ...
Gabe upset me a good part of the story. He promised to be gentle but behaves (I quote) "wild beast" every time. He knows but prefers to make excuses like "I can do nothing" rather than master. I found often selfish as to think first before that of his pleasure Mia.
Fortunately, Gabe is changing when he realizes he has more to Mia as other women he frequented before ... From there, I found it more human and I attached to this atypical couple . I preferred this part of the novel, softer than the first chapters.
Overall, I enjoyed this erotic romance. The style is pleasant and well described sex scenes. Scroll pages themselves, Rush is a perfect reading for pleasure. Only small problem: the end I found too fast. A few more chapters would not have been too much to change the reactions of the different characters ...
Finally, Rush is a nice first tome that made me want to continue Romantica Milady Romance. Rush is more daring than the trilogy "Fifty Shades" but without veer trash. I can not wait to read the following two volumes which will focus on Jace and Ash, both friends of Gabe.
