Weak points:
- It is necessary to heat at least 1 / 2l water ... sometimes more than what I need.
- The "keep warm" function, which is, I think, a hidden source of power consumption of little use given the speed at which the water heater.
Strengths:
- Temperature selection that goes beyond the 40/60/80/100 ° set. Indeed, the chosen temperature blinks during heating and the lights come on progressively as the water reaches the 40/60/80 °. For an intermediate temperature, just count the flashes when the temperature level just below.
Let me explain to heat water to around 70 °, I set the temperature to 80 ° and when the water reaches 60 °, I count 2 flashes before turning it off.
- The visibility of the water level in the kettle. My old kettle, had to be light, well oriented to see the water level (translucent wall) and when the light was insufficient, we saw nothing. Here is nickel, it is clear that water puts even closed lid (putting water via the spout) and even in the dark.
- The water does not cool too quickly, even without the "keep warm". I think this is due to the isolation of the kettle. It is also a source of energy gain.
- The beep when the temperature is reached ... practice one can do other things while the water heated and not forget (my specialty ;-).)
- The temperature light that stays on 2 min ... also handy to know at what temperature it was heated water for distracted (my second specialty)
Cherry on the cake:
It's not about the kettle directly, but the "Customer Care" Service at Philips.
To me, it is also very important because no one is immune from trouble.
My tea is defective arrival: The memory function was not working. (Not a packaging problem, it was nickel as usual).
Believing that it was me who did not find how to make it work, I called Philips. And here's a summary of my experience:
- A free telephone number (not just a "local call")
- Extremely fast response time ... although why I was oriented service "TV support". P
- A person (tele media so not really an expert in tea), nice, kind, asking the "right questions" to make sure he understood my problem.
- To not make me hanging around unnecessarily, he promised to call me on Monday (it was Friday night) as soon as it suited me (about 8:30) with all the necessary information.
- At 8:33 on Monday, he reminded me. It was a failure (rare) of the kettle. To avoid worries me having to return my tea Amazon and wait (no one knows how long) for a reconsideration in me, he sent me a new directly.
- The only thing they asked me was proof of purchase via the Internet and the promise that I would put recycling.
==> My experience, a rare enough service to make it worth mentioning. :-)
PS to respond to criticism that I read in other reviews:
- No, the kettle does not overflow when the water is boiling and we respect the max.
- Yes, the plastic on the outside (we like it or not) but everything is recyclable (provided that the door to the container park in Belgium ...)

Update September 19, 2014 ... it may interest some. ;-)
- So it is now four years since I use this tea EVERY day and it still works perfectly.
- About the plastic outside ... 4 years later, he did not move and did not scratched either.
