The production is powerful and warm, the use of Akkustgitarren was booted and Geddy Lee sings like a young god. The songwriting is very good to great, the best since an eternity, even if you really needed a few passes for some of the numbers. But the familiar - and will - the inclined Rush fan not too different. ;-) So bulkier parts fit in almost any of the 13 songs seamlessly catchy passages that mercilessly settle in the ear canals after only a few passages.
Although I own all Rush albums, I do not share the view of the way of my predecessor that the best material of the band comes from the 70s. Sure, "2112" and "Hemispheres" are indisputable classics of rock history, but sound-wise from today's perspective also dusted a little. My personal favorite albums are "signal", "Power Windows", "Hold your fire" and "Counterparts". At the latter Snakes & Arrows reminds me most.
