"The Empire Strikes Back" is all "Star Wars" - soundtracks probably the most variants, because here you get tons of own issues and indeed for virtually any situation. First, the three new major themes: One of the most famous melodies, the world of the "Imperial March", the beautiful (and by no means shoddy) Love Theme between Han and Leia, which shows up in countless variations and over again and the peaceful and harmonious motif of Yoda that super the kindness and wisdom of Jedimeisters set to music.
Well the "Imperial March" one must not say much, because there has never been a music that has so incredibly expressive represented a wickedness. In addition, this issue has become a cult status, such as the "Main Title" or even the main themes of "Indiana Jones" or "Jaws". The "Love Theme" by Han and Leia is, as one reviewer has described very nice, a continuation of Leiathemas and really stunning. The music to Yoda st one of my favorites in "Star Wars", but not so often alluded to as the other issues.
Then for almost every major scene its own motive, what am always fascinated: For "The Battle Of Hoth" wrote Williams own battle music and "The Asteroid Field" is probably the highlight of this soundtrack: No matter how often I use this piece Listen, I always get goose bumps because Williams here, like no other knows how to create an environment with the music. I always see the asteroid in front of me and like the Millenium Falcon being chased by the Tie fighters through the boulders through and to this grandiose theme, which can be heard only in this track, great!
The city in the clouds gets a signature tune that sounds kinda like freedom and independence. Especially dramatic is "Rescue From Cloud City / Hyperspace": The revelation of Vader, saving Luke and escape before the Empire is very exciting and also composed here Williams reused own melody, amazing!
But even older material will naturally be reused, especially the wonderful Luke theme (by the way the only issue, in addition to the "Main Titles" which is used in really every movie).
The entire soundtrack, which is available here on 2 CDs, has a length of 2 hours and 4 minutes.
For this soundtrack the Grand Master would definitely deserves an Oscar again! For me this music that the score here really perfect will remain the best, next to "The Lord Of The Rings", which I have ever heard, because not only the beautiful and infinite themes "STAR WARS" make so, but also the ability to tells the story and. without any dialogue or images "The Empire Strikes Back" and that using great John Williams soundtrack. Another masterpiece!
