Unsuitable for old hard drives ...

It has a zipper on the back of the device for adjusting the distance between the IDE connector and the connector "Molex" power, but the "beach" movement is quite narrow and does not "stick" the two connectors, as is the case on some old hard drives (like the old Quantum Fireball for example).

I tried to use an extension cord "molex" but I have not been able to find an IDE extension in my stock of computer junk ... and the price of such an extension on amazon (via conrad) is laughable: 3.3 extension but ... more 7 postage!

Both say immediately that the product should be delivered with these two extensions ("molex" and IDE) to be used with any IDE hard drive models, whatever their age or brand ...

I have not tested the "SATA" but it has less a problem because the space between the connection "data" and the power connector is standardized in the SATA standard.

Integrated card readers seemed practices (because they are located on the front) but I have no use.

In short, return to sender ... but fortunately the Amazon warranty is always nice.

I'll have to fall back on an IDE adapter => USB rudimentary order to use it with my old IDE drives ...

Conclusion: If you have an IDE extension cable (female => male) and an extension "molex" you should be able to use the same product with old hard drives. For this use, if you do not have it on hand, choose a rudimentary model that does not impose constraints on the size of hard disks or on the distance between the IDE connectors / "molex".
