The first impression is much more difficult than expected, when you look, but extremely valuable and robust. One notices immediately that the target audience does not have the typical cell phone clippers.
Operation and menu navigation are no different than we know it from other Powershots ago. What makes the difference here is the very precise working touchscreen. Select No tiresome clicking but on much too small and Gedrehe controls more easily on the screen what you want and pull the trigger. This is so easy and fast from the hand that you can sometimes just quickly change a few settings even in hectic situations.
What the service but really revolutionized, the two setting rings on the lens. These are almost arbitrarily assignable functions and give a the possibilities are otherwise only known from SLR. My favorite setting is currently Av mode, front ring: exposure adjustment, rear ring: Aperture, dial on the back of: ISO. Button pressed halfway, you can also adjust the front ring to focus.
The picture quality is due to the almost large APS-C sensor, the DIGIC processor 6, the pleasingly low number of pixels and the very high-aperture objective very well. High ISO values above 3200 show very little color noise, which I enables usable images even in dark shrines.
The mobility of the display is referred to in other reviews as a step backwards, because it no longer can be turned sideways compared to the G1X. I have not missed this feature so far. If you absolutely want to make a Selfie, you can flip the display up completely. The screen orientation changes automatically.
The different camera modes are quite nice, especially for people who just want to pull the trigger times. What really amazed me, the different ways to make recordings are from and with stars. Even the movement of the stars across the sky can capture the camera over an hour and make a movie out of it.
The camera is not cheap, but in my opinion totally worth their money. The field of application are high quality recordings with the possibility of very creative photograph. A not to be despised advantage is that you have a rather inconspicuous camera with me, and not just carry around several kilograms and thousands of euros with you. Straight people get caught a lot better if you do not keep them a huge camera with an even bigger lens to his face.
