I am not of the same opinion as the previous 2 in the review of this book because if there is darkness, it is not forced and ideally corresponds to a very tortured era of Spanish history. I find the atmosphere extremely well made and behaviors excacerbés protagonists perfectly legitimate in view of the events. The detective story which is grafted on is captivating and reveals its meaning at the end of the book. A dark thriller, well written, exotic for decoration and terribly true of human behavior related to this troubled period of Francoism.
