In 1983, Mr. Coverdale to his band to 3 positions, so that his band was finally ready for the big breakthrough. "Slide It In" in the US was the debut album for Whitesnake and there helped the band to the first platinum awards. With the new musicians, Cozy Powell (!) On drums, Mel Galley on the 2nd guitar and co-writer of many songs of the plate and Colin Hodgekinson on bass, the songs were given an extra boost of energy, which also extra-powerful drumming on Cozy`s were cut. The US Remix were additional guitar tracks by John Sykes, who later replaced Micky Moody, added out what makes the songs sound "American". But I want here with the "European" version content, because it really has it all! "Gambler" is the perfect introduction, a mid-tempo rocker with good riffs and powerful drums, in the middle of a keyboard-guitar solo from Jon Lord and M. Galley. The second song, the title track, is a the many live classics of the band. "Standing In The Shadow" and "Give Me More Time" were the singles for Europe followed by the American Singles "Love Ain`t No Stranger" and "Slow An`Easy". The latter in particular is the highlight of the disc for me. Powell drummt as John Bonham, Moody dominated with Slide guitar and in the middle a sing-along and Mitklatschstelle ideal for live concerts. "Spit It Out" and "All Or Nothing" Two ordinary Rocker. "Hungry For Love" drops slightly but is still a good deal. The last track "Guilty Of Love" reminds me with its twin lead guitars of Thin Lizzy and forms a wonderful conclusion. The whole disc is like the setlist of a concert and could easily also so- are playing, because it is here to many Whitesnake classics, performed by the perhaps most interesting (plus US Remix musicians Sykes and Murray-bs) Whitesnake line-up!
