However, I realized that the very expensive keyboards all diverse problems brought with them, so I unfortunately had to try a lot of keyboards, to finally find a good.
The "Logitech G910 Orion Spark" 180 EUR had the problem that the writing on the keys were so "science fiction" that we felt they were very very annoying and cumbersome when typing. The "painting" on the gamer buttons difficult still. Conclusion: Logitech has the essentials, namely the label the keys so poorly made that we have them returned promptly. Too bad.
Then came the Roccat Ryo MK Pro. A superb keyboard. The software is on Full HD monitors difficult to use, because everything is very small and the size of the window can not be changed. Nevertheless keystroke programmability and functionality was great. Biggest weakness is the blue lighting. Some find the cool, everyone else will find just very uncomfortable. And as the Roccat stood with me on the table, the whole family and friends has it just so rejected. The blue light is simply deadly exhausting and extremely annoying. That was not to be borne, at whatever stage lighting.
The next candidate was once connected the Corsair Gaming K95 Black Cherry MX Red., We have wrapped up at once without using longer. The lighting is indeed times something of disco> too much is because lit, each key has as its own border, the mitleuchtet. Not available.
Unfortunately, the SteelSeries Apex Gaming Keyboard has no mechanical buttons. Therefore, it was the last candidate and then came the wow factor, but with some problems. The labeling of the buttons is exemplary. The lighting and colors of the LEDs pleasant and helpful. After firmware update everything worked without complaint. The buttons are quiet and have a short stroke. Biggest weakness is unfortunately the programming buttons. It only fairly simple programming are possible. What this most annoys me is that I can program the P key, but not Ctrl + P. I would indeed keep the key "P", but with Ctrl + P I want to define a macro and something does not go with the SteelSeries software.
Here are a few notes about the SteelSeries Apex:
++ Keys smoothly, short stroke and pleasantly quiet
+ Keyboard flat, I find them ergonomically and short wrist rest fits my average hands
+ German "QWERTY" layout incl. The typical umlauts ÁáÉé
+ 2x USB 2.0 hub
+ A thin cable with two USB plugs.
--- No programming of layers possible (eg Control + P or Alt-T can not be reprogrammed
- Buttons are not mechanically
- No wheel for volume control but buttons on the right side.
- Lighting only in areas
- The intensity of the illumination is sufficient at the highest level. You could be brighter.
- Cursor keys not reprogrammed both inclined cursor keys do not work in the programs that I use
- Bright colors you get out hardly.
Nevertheless, from my strong buy recommendation, since the core function is really good - so typing on the keyboard is quiet, pleasant and as compared to the above keyboards really a delight.
Unfortunately, the successor to the keyboard, so the mechanical Apex M800 is, no keyboard, I want to look at me, because here too, many of the above-mentioned disadvantages to be repeated and that unfortunately at a price of 200, - EUR. The Apex M800 also has significantly fewer macro keys.
And now for my dream keyboard:
It would be desirable a keyboard with the programming possibilities of the Roccat MK pro, marking and lighting of the Apex (only light) and mechanical keys with a short stroke, the (ie rubber bands for quieter typing) includes equal Rubber Domes. Add to that a little extra integrated display as then in the Logitech G15. The stroke should be a USB 3.0. And last but not individually illuminated each key in RGB. I'm concerned, the keyboard could then also cost 250 EUR.
