Based on this, we have the following 3 units directly compared:
The NUK Eco Control + Video (audio with video; FHSS / 2.4 GHz radio)
Decisive for this were the many good customer recessions at Amazon.com and the many positive test results on the Internet.
(First of all: We decided ultimately for this device.)
The Angelcare AC1120 (audio with video; 2.4 GHz radio)
Since the Angelcare brand reportedly sets new standards in low-radiation technology, quality and functionality, the NUK with this model should enter into direct competition (especially because here the implemented features can be well compared).
The Angelcare AC420D (Audio only - no video, 864 MHz radio)
As one of the winner (2nd place at the current Öko-Test magazine), this model could not be missed.
Why not baby monitors with sensor mat?
Place 1 in the current Öko-Test magazine ranked the Angelcare AC401 (identical AC420D - only with additional sensor plate), which is the breathing movements of the child registered and placed under the mattress. But we pleases the idea not to put our child to sleep on an electrical appliance ...
Then we put value:
- Long range, as needed use over several floors
- Lowest possible radiation
- Good audio quality, switched on as required to the video function
- Easy to use and intuitive operation
- Less prone to interference (the baby monitor should disturb neither the WLAN, nor vice versa - to be disturbed)
For wireless technology:
If you want a baby monitor incl. Video function At length itself, should know that all of these devices actually work with 2.4 GHz transmission technology. NUK packaged it as a "trouble-free" FHSS technology, Angelcare says it right - but has the same effect: existing WLAN networks are greatly disturbed in video transmission, as these also mostly with the above 2.4GHz technology!
Remedy both devices have only the "Eco" function (NUK), or automatic switch off the camera after XX seconds (Angel Care), in which no video signal is transmitted! Pure audio transmission seems not to disturb the wireless network. Therefore, this error not occurred, incidentally, on the Angelcare AC420D (without video).
To reach:
Here was the NUK clear winner, which led us also to ultimately purchase decision for this device: Works on 2 floors and about 6 walls - so we can even with the in-laws to see and hear what is happening. Losers were clearly both Angelcare devices that have already after 4 walls over 1 floor lost the receipt.
For handling:
The implementation of all three devices is very user-friendly designed, so that they can be intuitively operated. Only the channel change the Angelcare AC420D requires a look at the manual.
The design of the Angelcare AC1120 proposes definitely the NUK device as material processing and design were easily implemented beautiful and high quality. (AC420D similar design as AC1120, but implementation is not so high.)
Each device itself also has nice little features to which one individual is vll value, but were not decisive for us.:
- NUK: lullaby function, intercom
- Angelcare AC1120: night light, touch screen, intercom
- Angel Care AC420D: Nightlight
Video Quality:
The video quality is the Angelcare AC1120 marginally better as the NUK: The image is slightly sharper and movements are transmitted more detail and with fewer streaks (valid for day and night vision). Here one should however not insert both devices to great expectations. Screen resolution of both devices relatively the same (bad). Colours and contrast very pale - really makes the impression of outdated technology of 10 years ago. Unfortunately, with all currently available video baby monitors so ... (Only Baby Webcams in conjunction with smartphone / tablet usage can the better).
Another difference between the two video equipment is turning on the camera in Eco mode: the NUK automatically activate the video function, when an audio signal is carried out. When Angelcare AC1120 the user must activate the video image itself. Can whichever be seen as an advantage or disadvantage (vs. everything at a glance frequent radiation exposure). Would have been nice if both producers would offer this feature on or off.
For Audio Quality:
Even with the audio quality both Angelcare devices hit the NUK with minimal advantage: The NUK begins at high volume on to "rattle" which does not occur at Angel Care. Sensitivity is similar for all devices. In both video baby monitors unfortunately lacks the visual representation of audio activities of the baby - it only provides the Angelcare AC420D without video function. Too bad ...
Conclusion: Due to the low range, we decided against the Angelcare AC420D and the Angelcare AC1120!
