In its original condition !!! DO NOT OPERATE THE HUB !!!
How to defuse the USB Hub and joy has it!
All these 10-fold USB hub's are identical, only the company imprints are different, that is, there is a common manufacturers of these devices of this only printed with the dealer's name.
I miss all the marks and so only the CE mark is on my USB hub on a label that is not valid again.
The USB Hub know a lot of mistakes in this very defective for computers and connected USB devices are.
1. everyone should know the difference between an active and passive USB hub.
2. Overloading a USB port of the USB controller will sooner or later broken in the worst case the entire computer to never use to avoid this a non-powered USB hub, the hub must also never be operated passively (the stroke must not function when the supplied AC adapter is not connected)
Defects USB Hub:
Problem1:
Built Hohlstecker- Einbaubuchse located too deep in the housing so that the barrel connector on the power supply does not gain proper contact.
By a bad contact can get the stroke and possibly the power supply broken and in original condition in any case the computer.
Remedy:
the hollow plug cut as much rubber as the jack was installed too deep in the housing, about 3mm or grind the diameter.
Problem2:
On the board, the voltage / current supply was concluded in parallel with the power supply unit with the USB cable from the host controller
Effect:
Here you send your computer to the afterlife because the computer no external voltage via the USB port can withstand.
By switching power supplies as they can be commonly used among themselves very high voltages, also to ground
Solution:
It was directly connected to the board GND 5V, + 5V is connected by a bridge in resistance housing.
This bridge necessarily desoldering.
The platinum print is as a diode, and a diode is absolutely taboo!
If a diode is installed and the host controller, the power supply fails overloaded the computer and go sooner or later broken.
If the resistance bridge is unsoldered, the USB Hub to operate safely only with a separate power supply.
The power supply has a specified output of 5V / 3800MA, corresponding to a current full coverage of 7 devices a 500mA, 300mA which should be sufficient for all LEDs and the two controller chips.
Since it is highly unlikely that one that's 10 units, each with 500mA operates very unlikely that the power supply unit is designed to weak.
Whether the individual ports are over-voltage and overload protected would be taken from the data sheets of the installed chips.
I can not say whether the rest is true from the board layout also.
Conclusion:
For the ordinary user of the USB Hub is read for expensive hardware Killer (manual carefully ... then you should get your compensation ;-)
Hobbyist can construct their own 10 port USB hub from a negligent template easily.
I miss a LED to display whether the power supply works.
The USB Hub looks very elegant, by the large distances between the individual ports have all devices wonderful place without impeding to a Slim version was to come on the market in which the ports are located along if you plug in USB cable only closer.
The LED status display which devices are active are indispensable.
