While leave the really good games for the current handheld still count on one hand, the PSP can look back on 8 full years in which many great games have been published. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Valkyria Chronicles 2, God of War: Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, as well as 2 full GTA parts are just a few examples of the great PSP games library. On top of that there are the most games as Essential for less than 10. And you live by accident yet in the US, the American PSN Store holds numerous PS1 classics (MGS1, FF7, Chrono Cross) and elsewhere Download Title (Joan of Arc, Tactics Ogre, Persona) Europe, guaranteeing countless hours of gameplay just friends of Japanese games.
The graphics of the PSP is about to 3DS level, which is remarkable in the face of the age of the console. Comparing, for example, the Monster Hunter Part of the two systems, fall on a hard real differences. Both on the PSP as well as the 3DS will see the Monster and the rest of the world from very detailed. Compared with my 3DS XL, but the image of the PSP is slightly sharper, which is due to the smaller screen and higher resolution. Games like God Of War reached on Sony's first handheld loose the graphic quality of the PS2. Sure, the Vita can do more and charmed with PS3 graphics, costs but also good 2.5 times the Portable.
The processing of 80-PSP is down to a single blunder, the rickety UMD drive cover, very good. The matt-black console itself has a pleasant weight, makes a stable as quality impression and has good tactile buttons. Again, it compares favorably with my 3DS XL, in my opinion, slightly better. The 3DS looks overall a little less noble.
The only downside I could find so far is the lack of Wi-Fi module. Fun multiplayer games and mobile access to the PSN Store fall so flat. Games from the PSN Store, however, can load per MediaGo software on the PC and then via mini USB cable (not included) on the PSP transferred.
All in all, the PSP still a really great handheld that also can inspire eight years after its initial publication. The price-performance ratio is currently unbeatable, you get for the price of 3DS already the console, a 4GB memory card and about 5-6 games of your choice. My recommendation therefore: Who just go enjoy some good games and it does not want to spend directly 200+, makes the PSP everything right - even at times of Vita and 3DS.
