I already had the predecessor to the WD TV Live. With this I was also satisfied, then came the WD TV Live of a few offers more gimmicks. For any of the missing already in 1Gen DTS downmix (Not that I need him, but nice that he can finally) port on the other hand the existing LAN. This allows the WD to the PC directly, or connected to a router PC / laptops to use the network shares.
The slightly faster and slightly learnable main menu has remained almost the same.
The better the hardware has been installed here allows a more .mkvs play. Was there a test file the High Profile 5.1 and 13 reframes is hat.Jetzt they played without any problems.
Furthermore, very positive which is now DTS-HD can be ground via HDMI to a corresponding AVR through, True-HD passthrough is probably yet to come.
Toll also that one is finally from USB1 to USB2 and copy inversely connected USB flash drive or HDD can move back and forth respectively.
If the player depends on a router you can also use Youtube. Since it would be nice if you could connect a keyboard, since the input of the individual letters is quite tedious if you examined what times.
Then there's still ne online radio function but which includes many channels.
For Player itself is otherwise I find further commitments nix, well made, no sharp corners or edges where you could be injured.
Power consumption will probably also be on the level of the WD 1Gen and 2Gen. So the 7 watts. Have no instrument at hand to it to measure time by.
All in all a great product which will hopefully continue to be supplied by WD with firmware update again.
