This novel is one of the best I've read this year. I am interested in this novel after the film of the same name. And I must say it was a very nice surprise. Indeed, it is a story about a very difficult subject: the undocumented, it's done very cleverly, one does not fall in Manichaeism, the hero of the story is faced with a hostile world that it fails to master. This book describes the lives of undocumented migrants in unsanitary conditions, their struggle to get out with no jobs and other illegal schemes. For me, this is a book that greatly reflect on it, and somewhere it kept me alive from the inside, the expulsion of undocumented and what could be (or more simply "is" ) living in a city like Paris, afraid to get back home. And above all it also explains family pressure felt by these undocumented indeed France remains a mirage and difficult to return home and admit that life in France is even worse than the one they left. A book very, very hard, full of emotion.
A book that just joined the Emmanuel Schmitt with "Ulysses from Baghdad." Finally, I will say: I have not seen the film of the same name, but given that little realism jewelry and emotions, I do not intend to miss it, and more with Omar Sy.
