Basic requirements were:
+ DVB-S2 tuner
+ Top image especially in TV reception
+ LED Backligt So low power consumption
+ Good quality
+ HBB TV
First, I got myself an LCD from another brand. This LCD had extreme Clouding. The unit was a total absolute deficient due to bright image spots that have occurred primarily in the corners. The contrast values with partial views of the LCD were very bad. So unit declined. Then I've also looked at these times the Sammys at the store. Expensive, viewing angle-dependent contrasts and exaggerated colors, I realized. Seen sharpness / contrast from the front was when Sammy but top. Color when Sammy would maybe an attitude thing. Reports on Clouding on these models have let me get away from the brand. It's not all gold shines what. And why then the polished mirror surface where the TV with me still stands next to a patio door and often abbekommt sidelight. So then remained only two brands. Sony or Philips or LG. Where LG and Philips use the same panels. These are IPS panels, the type of construction allow better viewing angles and also generate stable colors. In the shop, I then looked at the reviewed unit here and I noticed that the theoretical values of IPS panles be implemented by the Philips into practice. No other LCD on the market currently has such a clean image with stable viewing angle-independent colors and contrasts.
But now my home tests:
I have two days is only set to get the best picture. I can only recommend: a 50 brightness, 50 color, 90 contrast, light sensor, in the pixel settings optimal picture and everything else to filter out and Ultra Clear Panel Resolution on from. Pixel Motion is useless. Dirty the image totally. I mention the settings, as these are important. The shop is for me a picture assessment impossible, as can be checked only after several days of image adjustment which an LCD really can.
Now the picture itself:
DVB-S2: absolutely outstanding for TV. Here a sharpness value of 2 is sufficient. Overall, the picture is incredibly clear, viewing angle stable, Clouding zero - better than any other device on the market, power consumption 75-120 watts, depending on the external brightness. Contrast is bauartbeding for IPS panels do not top but overall very good. It should be remembered übertiebene contrasts lead to image loss in dark scenes. In addition, the LCD is nice and bright in the optimal picture setting. Thanks to the excellent brightness of the image, the contrast is simply very well in practice.
Blue Ray: Very neutral image.
What can I say. Better than the reality is just simply not. The Philips is at 96-98% at the Relaität. Where the human eye is here the Litmit and not the LCD. If someone has poor eyesight and not sharp eg sees only 90% then he can not reach the 96-98% natural. Unless he has a good spectacle. The very force varies also seen throughout the year. Important Make sharpness to 0. Otherwise the images are over-sharpened edges and flickering is the result. The problem with the exaggerated sharpness by default but currently almost all LCDŽs. Einzges deficiency with Blue Ray. Due to the large screen size of 119 cm, stands judder / Motion Jutter immediately apparent. However, this has to do with the LCD itself nothing but the 24 p playback / recording and is not detrimental to the cinema feeling. 24 p's wanted. So for me, actually recorded a quality feature for this LCD because the electonic filtering is switched off and the image is reproduced as in the source.
DVD: With such a LCD you can see immediately if the source is not optimal. So of LCD side I'd au here a 1 awarded. But the data quality of a DVD is just simply not a Blue Ray. Of the Bildverbesserern who want to turn bad data more artificial / should I hold nothing. The reality here is the yardstick by which I measure a LCD.
3D: I could not test. And there are hardly 3D Blue Ray to buy. The films that are available on Blue Ray, I've seen at the cinema. But since is much more to come. Overall, Polfiltertechnik should funktinieren but very good. Especially good: the glasses are easily affordable and do not require battery. The only disadvantage of Polfiltertechnik loss of resolution in the image lines. But gem. Test reports of this from a distance of about 3m no longer visible and plays at Blue Ray 3D due to the high resolution does not matter. So here also look good.
Disadvantages:
- Software / Frimware: Overall, the device software is still very unstable. Added to the slow overall performance of the device is used particularly with HBB TV content. But the updates come every month and I think / hope it will run everything in one year.
- One thing is annoying but then enormous. Teletext is simply slow. Others can do much better LCD. I do not know if it is up to the currently installed firmware or to any setting with me. However, I hope that it will soon better firmware is where the teletext runs faster. A fast teletext should be standard on an LCD in this price range today.
Build quality of the device:
+ Now the end I want to say something to Qualtiät the device. Brushed aluminum treat for the eyes. Just awesome. Nix Plastikbomer and thin cloth ala Sammy. If they are in such devices hinstöst times still the same bent.
Final chord:
+ This LCD is simply a stunner. The picture is outstanding and as good as the reality. The IPS panel currently represents the benchmark in the LCD world. Processing and value outstanding.
I'll be here given for this product Masterpiece, because the mentioned drawbacks of the LCD are so low and the low power consumption just about anything so far tops seen before. And then the whole without Clouding problems other LCD.
So buy, why wait for OLED when LCD is already perfect.
