Following the comments posted on this, I wanted to try this chromebook to have on hand a kind of fast laptop to check my mail, internet on a screen more comfortable than a webphone and work too.
I knew what to think, a chromebook not a "mac" or a laptop with windows ... It was therefore unrealistic of me to want to find some office software such as "OpenOffice" and others. But I knew that the "webstore" I can find more software than it takes to fill the gaps. Great evil has taken me! Open office is certainly present, but that version is not nearly as successful as the version "windows" ... Ditto for the image processing software and I do not even talk about "gimp" to which we must costs about 5 euros per month for an unbridled release ... When the file manager, I do not find the practice, difficult to do it, especially as the drag and drop does not operate to store documents or images in an order customized. For photos stored on the drive, you can not find them in Picasa or on the image manager, two "divisions" different that do not communicate. You must download the images on the image manager and not in the drive, if you will share them on the network. And then it must be said, all this is not very intuitive as yet I am not one to throw in the towel easily.
I appreciated the speedy ignition, stability and I believe that this concept has a future. But for now, it seems to me not mature enough and I think it is urgent to wait, at least from my perspective. The fact that there are "short-circuit" in the keyboard called "shortcuts", in numbers enough important- it is extremely annoying when typing a text quickly and sometimes the finger slides on the sidelines of next, to see that the machine opens new windows or starts commands that we did not want to activate. The very flat keys of asus chromebook unfortunately tend to increase the problem of 'fingers glide "by quickly striking text. With traditional keyboard, the keys are slightly curved specifically to block his finger on the button when typing quickly. Too bad that Asus has not thought about this problem and has preferred to design a kind of nice after all instead of the actual typing comfort ... To conclude, if you do not have a printer ready for the " google cloud print ", I wish you a lot of courage to print your documents ... it will be possible, provided to recognize your printer to your google account and keep a running computer and permanently connected to the internet for the transfer can occur. When the confidentiality of impressions that pass over the network "google print" before reaching your printer, it clearly does not have to be fussy about the confidentiality of data contained in such documents ...
