To Elvis: Through (White) Gospel Elvis came in the first place to sing. That he such songs (partly against the will of the producers) took up again and again, is perhaps known. He received his only Grammy for gospel pieces. When Elvis sings these songs, meet together heavenly messages and the "Artist of Century" - and it all sounds so familiar, so thoughtful close as possible, so not at all after Hüftschwung & Rebellion; This is indeed Elvis, his side, which was always downplayed, he but throughout his career turned to again and it lived (and that meant not only a show, but seriously): "It [Singing Gospel] puts your mind at ease. It does mine ".
Among the songs: Brilliant presented, interpreted outstanding. Most very sentimental and sensitive singing, neither rock nor charismatic emphasizes - just adequate. Even for people who can not do anything with Gospel & Faith are Elvis' gospel recordings (in addition to his lyrical best songs) the absolute vocal technical highlights.
For Box: For the first time largely unifies all gospel recordings. The complete studio material is represented, as well as the essential live cuts. Unlike many other Elvis & Gospel collections, the Gospel-pieces of the 1956 Million Dollar Quartet session not missing. Nice booklet!
