EMSA splash 4-in-1 I've tested so far, in his capacity as a splash guard and for pouring hot cooking water. As crusty I have not used him as Trivet he was not entirely at ease: the distance between the substrate to the substrate simply is too low, as I would the protection have placed every confidence that table or countertop not something happens. The processing of the splash guard is tiptop with me, no residue or burrs in the holes of the plate. As a colander is very good, but not absolutely necessary, you can also simply pour through a gap of the saucepan lid hot cooking water, with the splash it works but still a bit easier I think. As protection from splashes I do not want to miss the silicone mat! The protection helps prima, there are hardly any splashing around the pan when frying, the fried food is crispy, because no condensation accumulates under the plate and it is not yet absolutely heat resistant and residue-free rinsing. A minus is the fact that the material assumes strong the smell of the material for frying. Despite always rinse immediately after use, the protection now smells like an old fried potatoes: P

On inquiry I got from Emsa customer service the following tips:
The fact that the splash guard protects well against grease, it is subjected to high stresses, which can lead to odor adoption. Therefore, we recommend cleaning in the dishwasher up to 70 ° C. The cleaning with mild vinegar solution helps to remove the odors. Extra Tip: airing leave after the dishwasher by placing the splashguard example to the kitchen back panel on the work surface.
