So I stand before this concept album in two parts. Two days are the wheels up at me and run down, and every time I see a little more, how is the compositional context.
But what makes the work so awesome? (In parentheses are just a few examples that illustrate exactly what I mean.)
There are the intricate riffs, still ordered that arrive at the listener. (MK Ultra, Rainbow Gravity, Omega)
There are great melodies that take every time again epic proportions. (Heavy Heart, Alpha, Psychosphere, The Bad Thing, Priestess)
There are the moments that are developing an incredible dense atmosphere. (A Black Minute, The Scourge, Stranger Things)
These are the phrases that you would never be able to expect. (Hell Below towards the end)
And last but not least there are the musicians who deliver something here of good that every time it is again a pleasure to listen to them here. (For example, the beautiful guitar intro of "Priestess" or the cross ingenious drumming in "Stranger Things" from 2:52 - pure joy, and thus true audio pleasure)
Periphery come here at the same time more pop, as harder and more evil than the previous albums, therefore (in some cases even within a song). Straight to fulminant finale pulls out the hardness ridge again properly to, but transmit its great melodies and the dense atmosphere not on the track. And it is this mixture that will be presented here at the highest level, to the periphery of other bands of this genre is lifted.
It is mainly the overall sound, as the band acts together here. All instruments in perfect harmony with each other, the integration of Spencer's vocal skills (of here the way to retrieve a huge range of different clean as growled vocals) fits perfectly with the fiddly music and the work as such seeming simplicity absolutely correct.
Along with the music comes an epic story that will unfold over the 80 minutes. What is at stake, everyone should find out for themselves, but let's just say: Even lyrically white Juggernaut to convince completely!
It does not work to separate the two CDs from each other, which is why I rate here also both parts as a whole. Are brought out only one of the two disks, you missed something - like looking only the first or the last half of a movie. Juggernaut: Juggernaut Alpha and Omega belong together inseparably. The enclosed DVD accordingly relates not only to the part with which it comes, but the emergence of the complete works. The documentation that there are some very interesting insights and completes the two-piece perfectly.
In summary the following to say: Who previously found good Periphery, Juggernaut is love (at least I feel so). It is again a certain extent different from the previous releases, but without changing its own face too far. The music is in some ways more mature, the band is in perfect harmony with each other and the two parts combine to create an outstanding oeuvre. Great melodies, a neat ridge hardness, brilliant riffs - it's just the end of January, and here is already one of the albums of the year.
THANK Periphery for this masterpiece!
