Jai found happiness with all the ingredients that mavaient rained in the first volume: hyper short chapters and well paced, pen no frills but efficient and intrigue service, a well-controlled suspense, a latent anxiety that eventually sintensifier, characters for which one feels -positive or négatives- emotions from the beginning, and especially, a new history of the neighborhood, avoiding traps very well the dune ineffective or useless now!
Note nonetheless that the beginnings are a bit slow, or rather a bit far from what one expects of a usual thriller daily we follow these neighboring families and if you feel a slight tension, it will take time to to life. But thanks to those first 100 pages, we re-tame Sylvain / Tiphaine torque and sattache new characters: the anguish and face their destinies will become clear then, that stronger afterwards. Indeed, we know that it will (still) derailed, the pressure cooker is about dexploser points and that is a treat to ask, constantly, how, where, when and with whom.
A very good read, then!
