Brief information about me:
Since about 5 years I've been using Apple products, including various iPhones, iPads and iPods. The operating concept of the equipment, the attention to detail and the whole ecosystem, which is behind it, has me then directly excited and it's so far, despite extensive testing any competitor managed to convince me so. A Mac I had never been brought because the high price but looks pretty daunting. Until now I used only Windows PCs and notebooks.
About 2 months ago I have now but brought me this gem and have to admit that this is one of my best investments. Half an hour after the initial power I imagined already the question: "Why did I not taken this decision already?"
Design
The design of a "working tool" to me is not the decisive factor for the purchase, but is nevertheless mentioned here. The Macbook looks through the aluminum body of very noble and also appears to be quite robust. If I have placed my hands on my old notebook (Dell Inspiron 15R SE), the housing has geknarzt to himself. With the Macbook of course that is not the case. The general processing is exemplary and I have found no criticism.
Operating system
Apple downplays not when they claim that it is the most advanced operating system for computers / Macs with MacOS. The overall design and operation are very intuitive and you wonder why Windows has so far failed here abzukupfern something more.
One feature that I want to mention here is the use of different "desks". In short: You have the chance to try different applications in full screen or in window view to put on different virtual desktops, between which you can simply wipe back and forth. The stupid TAB + ALT on Windows to display the window you want to elaborate manner omitted here completely!
Touchpad
The touchpad in Windows notebooks more than a makeshift mouse replacement, the Macbook is a real alternative to the mouse! Multitouch gestures (2/3/4-finger gestures) work reliably and are perfectly integrated into the operating system. Who believes that the 8 already works well with Windows, will be taught with a Macbook significantly better.
Display
The display convinces in many ways. The high resolution Retina makes for a very sharp display of all content, whether text or image. Colors are reproduced very faithfully and are very "crisp". It should be mentioned also the high brightness of the display. This ensures that you can use the Macbook without restrictions even in bright sunlight outdoors.
Performance
Since I often operate image editing and video editing, my demands on performance are not necessarily low. However, this notebook appears to have very large capacity reserves. All tasks are processed very quickly and, in my opinion, the Macbook Pro at the edges without problems with my tower PC (i7-3770K, 16GB RAM) record.
Battery life
Here Apple really needs to be praised. I've seen no product with a comparable battery life.
Small story behind it:
For compatibility reasons, I have for some Windows programs using Boot Camp partition with Windows 7 created. Only in a direct comparison of both operating systems on the same physical system is seen as wasteful Windows deals with energy. While I easily battery life achieved under Mac OS of sensational 13 hours and more, there are Windows rare in similar use more than 6 hours. In Windows 8 can man with an improvement when compared to Windows 7 expected, but not with a clear approach to the values of Mac OS.
Connections & Drives
Apple is again in the running direction. By design is no room for a DVD drive nor a VGA port. If I'm honest I do not miss the well! Who needs nowadays still regularly a DVD drive? Maybe at first to install some software that you just only on such disks, but after such a drive is often nothing more than a waste of space. Space which can be used for other components, or to optimize the design of the device. Remedy I've procured with an external DVD drive and a VGA adapter. I carry around with me then, when I really need.
Conclusion
Those who opt for this laptop, have to compromise either in performance or in terms of mobility. One shortcoming may perhaps be the high price, but the pioneering operating system in conjunction with the ingenious use more than make up for it.
