Customer Review

The album "Fahrenheit" is TOTO 1986 by its popigsten side - and with a new singer. After the rather unfortunate interlude by Fergie FREDERIKSEN on "isolation" TOTO found with JOSEPH WILLIAMS, son of film music legend John Williams a worthy successor to the fired (including STAR WARS, JAWS, Indiana Jones, etc.) after the album TOTO IV founding member Bobby Kimball.
Unlike most TOTO albums the guitar is here clearly in the background. This may be due to the time in which originated the songs, or that many of the songs written by keyboardist David Paich, singer JOSEPH WILLIAMS and drummer Jeff Porcaro originate. Nevertheless, "Fahrenheit" is one of the best albums TOTO. The songs are harmonious, catchy without boring the melodies and the sound almost timeless - just perfect AOR.
Already the opener "TILL THE END" to realize that JOSEPH WILLIAMS (at least temporarily) solved the problem with Singer TOTO. His voice is powerful, it produces goose bumps and both the rock songs and ballads perfectly adapts.
"TILL THE END" is a piece that was also played on the subsequent tour as an opener: a perfect symbiosis of what makes the music of Californians. A driving and catchy rhythm, a good riff, but economical point exactly used wind instruments (again the old friends of CHICAGO) supplemented by percussion is the recipe for a true musical fireworks.
Another highlight of the album is the track "Without Your Love". A slight, grooving off-beat rhythm of bass and drums, and the vocals carry the song by the verse. All other instruments are used very sparingly. In Chorus then put the keyboards and the guitar a first right and give this part by additional Felt, musical density. A beautiful solo by Steve Lukather completes the song.
In addition, waiting "Fahrenheit" in one of the known and popular Lukather piano ballads. "I'll Be Over You" resembles that of the compositional approach "I WILL NOT HOLD YOU BACK" TOTO IV draws the listener but almost magically in its spell. Especially since every listener probably has ever need to overcome a broken heart and for these songs are simply unsurpassable.
But is dominated album of songs like "WE CAN MAKE IT TONIGHT", "CAN NOT STAND IT ANY LONGER", "Fahrenheit", "Somewhere Tonight", "Could This Be Love" and "LEA" - all pop gems which prove that popular music has to be boring and monotonous not necessarily.
As all comprising (lat .: en Totus) the sound of TOTO is the final proof "do not stop me now", a gentle jazz ballad, on which no other Tompeter-God as Miles Davis blowing his horn. Who made it this far, that MD takes the time to record a common piece of it has truly managed to make himself a musician or band name.
Overall, "Fahrenheit" is not is certainly one of the favorite albums of rock fans among the TOTO supporters, but friends good handmade music is this album nevertheless warmly recommended, because here TOTO prove once again that they have no "one-trick pony "and can only write rock songs and ballads. Moreover JOSEPH WILLIAMS delivers excellent performance, just like the other guys too. "Fahrenheit" is definitely in any well-stocked record collection.
