Stabat Mater (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Stabat Mater, a seal from the Middle Ages, named after the poem beginning: Stabat mater dolorosa what Latin means "It was the mother in pain", has apparently always been fascinated composers, because it has already been more than 30 set to music times. Vivaldi, Rossini, Verdi and Dvorák - but also contemporaries like Poulenc and Penderecki have created masterpieces on the Mother of God at the feet of her crucified son.
In skillfully masterful implementation Karl Jenkins conflated with "Stabat Mater" multicultural elements such as oriental rhythms with choruses of our civilizations without anywhere near getting into minimal way in the near Kitsch or elitist classical music.
The first piece "Cantus Lacrimosus" is a masterful opening the culminating when "Jesus Vidit In tormentis", with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Chorus. But at the latest on "Lament", moving sung by Jurgita Adamonyte each should be clear that Karl Jenkins has created another masterpiece.
Stabat Mater is Karl Jenkins Requiem logical continuation of his success.
