All the better that it Petroglyph again trying times, with classic real-time strategy incl. Base building and extensive singleplayer Kamapgne this now to reinvigorate "niche genre".
And it works, at least in single player mode dazzling. In the comprehensive good 20-25 hours Kamapgne we play on each of them on the part of three different nations. The story is supported by great cut scenes that are so rare in auser Blizzard still looks and which contribute to the good atmosphere of the campaign. Although there are only about 5 missions per nation to play, this is it but each very long and offer a number of objectives that need to be done sequentially or in parallel on the cards and often do not lead to successful completion at the end of the fight, but at the same Map to unlock new goals. Motivating!
The peoples themselves play very differently: The Beta Games to respect the most classic of its base construction and remember most of the old C & C Parts.. The people, however, have their building "networking" and so take advantage of the terrain and good planning, but can it lay in no time on your "network" and thus skillfully shift the whole Verteidungsanlagen fronts and bases. Last but not least, the Goo play completely different, because they have no base building, but only "mother" Goos with which they absorb raw materials and "split" units. An interesting, but getting used to concept.
A good RTS course masses of units - and here there is the first star deduction: there are only about 10 units per colony offered, which also unfortunately far too little are individualized. On the one hand there is the classical types such as reconnaissance, light tanks, heavy tanks, artillery, fighter, etc., but this play is basically up to the appearance of all three peoples identical. Because, unfortunately, lacks the individualization because also the units have no special skills. Only the "super unit" every people has fallen relatively different. But here altogether too much potential was wasted.
But the core of the multiplayer RTS remains - and since Grey Goo can only partially points (after I betritten some games in 2v2).
There are 1v1, 2v2 and FFA (FFA) incl matches. Rankings and integrated LAN mode. The matches play out quickly and without a lot of stress because the micromanagement less counts as the macro management and thus the overall strategy. After about 30 minutes, a game is usually terminated. Unfortunately, only a maximum of 4 players can play on a map. An increase to a minimum. 6 (if not 8) I wanted to see players, as well as a wider selection of MP or Skirmish maps.
While there is again refreshing to play MP Matches without hassle, but it turns out that due to the low unit diversity the tactical possibilities are too limited. Air units are too weak and too expensive for complying with the ground units mostly a bunch of heaviest devices incl. Artillery to overwhelm the enemy. Naval units are completely absent. In addition, the Beta Although play on most classic, but on the strength of the other two parties have been unsuccessful. The resources are infinite, so that classic "Einigel" tactics are possible and useful and a major expansion is often not purposeful!
For therefore sparse MP there is the second star deduction.
Grey Goo is still a must-have for old RTS bunnies who love classic base building and also like to play a MP Match between.

Cons:
- To low unit diversity, which differ also in the peoples too little
- It lacks naval units; Here potential was wasted
- Unfortunately, only a maximum of 4 players on a map in MP
- MP Matches offer too little tactical change
- Graphic of planet surfaces to detailarm and partly too little construction site (in MP)!
- Infinite resources often lead to "Einigel" tactics
